Introducing Saturday PCAM Reviews … Because Drugs Are Not The Only Answer to Our Modern Health Problems.
Here's more proof that drugs are not the only answer to high cholesterol and triglycerides and why you need to compliment therapy with natural medicines.
Pharmacists that don’t listen to their clients are really missing out. I love to follow people who take my advice and see what happens. Here’s an exciting case that illustrates the power of a PCAM Review. He stopped in my pharmacy yesterday all smiles and buying more supplements. I’ve added his case study to my cholesterol workshop presentation. (Next one is Feb. 13th at 7pm.)
My client is a 60 year old male with high cholesterol and high triglycerides. He’s on 2 blood pressure meds and Lipitor 10mg. He eats an average diet and drinks a can of beer everyday.
He stopped in 6 months ago with a problem.
His doctor was not happy with his lipid numbers.
Although he was taking his Lipitor 10mg faithfully, his cholesterol was 300 and his triglycerides were 400. I did a “PCAM Review” (I’ll explain that in a minute) and decided that he needed to make some changes in his diet and nutrition to allow his Lipitor to work better.
Based on what he told me, I recommended he continue on his medication, reduce his intake of red meat to once a week, reduce his intake of glycemic sugars and take my private label “Glucose Support” formula to help support normal glucose metabolism. If you attended my cholesterol workshop you know that high insulin can elevate blood pressure, cholesterol and triglycerides. I think this was my client’s problem.
He came back to me a couple months later. His doctor told him that his iron was low because of his reduction in red meat consumption. I recommended he start taking our “Easy Iron” supplement to replace the iron he wasn’t getting in his diet. He did so. (Easy Iron is a gentle iron I carry in my nutrition center that is as bioavailable as heme iron in red meat.)
My client came in yesterday very happy with his doctor’s report.
His iron level was perfect.
His blood pressure had stabilized.
His triglycerides dropped from 400 to 176,
And his cholesterol declined from 300 to 167.
Unbelievable results with just simple shifts in his diet and nutrition. Both he and his doctor are delighted and can now discuss modifying his drug doses downward if appropriate.
I believe that diet, nutrition and lifestyle are getting in the way of drug therapy.
Drugs are not “lone gun slingers” that can clean up your all your health problems.
Drugs are never designed to work alone.
You need to create an optimal biochemical environment for them to do their job.
You need help from a pharmacist that specializes in complimentary and alternative pharmaceutical care.
That’s why I’m offering a new service I’m calling a “PCAM Review”. PCAM stands for “pharmaceutical, complimentary and alternative medicine”.
Here’s how the PCAM Review works:
We sit down privately and do the following:
I take a careful health history from you.
We create a complete inventory of your medications and nutritional supplements.
We review your lifestyles and diet.
I do a comprehensive review of your supplement labels to make sure you are taking quality supplements that are appropriate.
I perform a gap analysis of your lifestyle, diet and nutrition.
I give you a written plan to follow to optimize your drug therapy and hopefully reduce and sometimes eliminate your need for potent pharmaceuticals that are expensive and risky.
A letter from a client who recently signed up for a Saturday PCAM Review:
“I recently had a blood cholesterol test done. I was surprised to learn that my total cholesterol reading had risen about 40 points in only 2 and ˝ years.
When my doctor left a message that I should come and pick up a prescription for medication, I knew that I didn’t want to do that just yet. I decided to meet with Allen Bunn to see if there would be another way that I might be able to lower my cholesterol rather than going on a prescription medication.
I want to tell you that I walked away from that meeting with way more information than I had planned on getting.
Mr. Bunn talked to me about my lab results, explained what the numbers meant, the role cholesterol plays in my health and the effects that prescription cholesterol medications have on the body. I also learned that fat is not the only thing I need to pay attention to in my diet. I need to learn more about soluble and insoluble fibers and which carbohydrates I need to substitute for what I am eating now. There are also substances, along with exercise and diet changes, which will more naturally lower cholesterol than having to be put at risk of the effects of a prescription medication. Then we discussed three plans for lowering my cholesterol. I feel confident that the plan we have chosen together is the better one for me and I’m anxious to see in a few months what the result will be.
I urge anyone who wants to find out more about cholesterol issues to take some time, make an appointment and speak with Allen Bunn about alternative ways to attack the problem. Prescription medications are not always the only answer.” Sincerely, PW, New Egypt, NJ
I have 3 slots for PCAM Reviews on Saturdays from 9am to Noon. I may add more time slots as needed. If you are interested in reserving a time slot please email me back. I’ll send you a brochure and set an appointment.
Don’t forget about my cholesterol workshop on Wed. Feb 13th at 7pm. Reserve a seat now before it fills up. The last one attracted over 25 people. It was pretty crowded in my pharmacy that day.
