Our number one joint health supplement has a really annoying side effect.  It makes your finger nails grow like crazy. 

I guess for women, this is desirable.  But for men, it's annoying.  I put up with it because I like the way it relieves the pain and stiffness in my back. 

I remember years ago when I first started practicing pharmacy, we had a lot of female clients buying gelatin capsules for their nails.  It’s a trend that is not as common today. 

What is interesting is that gelatin is made from collagen derived from the connective tissue of animals.  In fact, for a number of years, people used to take it for their joints too.  Knox Gelatin even came out with a joint health supplement, but I think it has been discontinued.

Collagen is made up of chondroitins.  Most people are familiar with using chondroitins and its building block glucosamine for joint health.  What is unique about “type 2” chicken collagen is that it is a great source of hyaluronic acid.  This water-loving molecule attracts moisture into joints, skin and other structures in the body.  It works great with glucosamine and chondroitin and is the reason why I sell over 60 bottles a month of our compounded BioCell chicken collagen with vitamin C.  Some of my clients take it for skin support too.  It is great for anti-aging.  (I’ve attached an ABCNews.com article to this email so you can see how hyaluronic acid helps your skin age well.)

If you want to try this supplement, stop by the pharmacy or give us a call.  Try to give us a heads up if you need a bottle, as we sell so much of it that we have a hard time keeping up with demand.  We have lots of BioCell in bulk stock.  It takes my technician time to add the vitamin C and encapsulate it.  We have to give her a little lead time.
