Feb. 23, 2008: Here's a great reason why people should use a local compounder. |
Topic: Blog |
| This just happened and it is a great example of why people need to deal with a local pharmacist for their pets.
We have a client with a dog that has respiratory problems. The dog coughs horribly and after some trial and error found a compound that helps. The drugs is called aminophylline and we compound it into a flavored suspension. His dog has been taking it since November 2007. |

Feb. 21, 2008: Acid Mantle HC and Eczema |
Topic: Blog |
| I have years of experience dealing with a child with eczema. I consider myself somewhat of an eczema expert, after years of dealing with my son’s symptoms, I discovered a compound ten years ago, given to me by a pediatric allergist, that has been a powerful tool in our compounding tool chest for dealing with symptoms of eczema. It’s called acid mantle with hydrocortisone. The concentration of hydrocortisone in this compound is really no different than what you would buy over the counter, but for some reason it works much better. The way that it works has a lot to do with the base that it’s in, a cream known as acid mantle. I don’t know how this doctor came up with this combination of ingredients; it just works really well. |

Dec. 14th 2007: How Testosterone Replacement Can Sometimes Be Toxic. by Allen J. Bunn, R.PH. |
Topic: Blog |
| A male client was in today with his wife. She had some nutritional questions and he had one also. He relayed to me his experience with testosterone replacement. I asked him how old he was. I was surprised to see a man of fifty on testosterone replacement. We got on the subject of replacing testosterone in men in their forties and fifties (a practice I don't easily recommend). In his case, his doctor measured his testosterone (it was borderline) and implanted a testostereone pellet in this butt. To his surprise, he didn't really feel much different. |

Nov. 28, 2007 Our Jan. 12th cholesterol workshop is evolving into a diabetes workshop too... |
Topic: Blog |
| I’ve said it many times in jest. Of course there is not but it would be nice if drugs were designed to solve multiple problems. Drugs are usually designed to be very selective in the way they work. Secondary effects are usually called “side effects” and serve no specific purpose. |

Nov. 30, 2007: FW: brittle nails and hypothyroidism |
Topic: Blog |
| A client asked me why her nails were so brittle.
As you know, brittle nails are associated with thyroid dysfunction.
I asked Dr. Joseph Collins, N.D., author of the book Your Menopause Type, and formulator for Thyromend, if his formulation would help brittle nails. Below is his answer. |
